Marie E Donat

Marie E. (Roberto) Donat, 92, of Worcester passed away Monday, August 13th 2012 with family gathered beside her. Marie's husband Walter Donat passed away in March of 2009. She is survived by her two devoted children, Karen Olivier and her husband William of Shrewsbury and Harwich port, Dr. Walter E Donat M.D. and his wife Susan of Narragansett R.I. ; Five grandchildren, Walter, Michael, Elizabeth, Steven, and Marcela; a great grandson, Miles ; her brother in law, Charles Giannelli in New Jersey; Nieces, nephews and extended family. A sister, Anita Giannelli pre deceased her. Marie was born in Paterson, New Jersey a daughter of Frank and Lida (Iandoli) Roberto. She graduated from St. John's High School in Paterson, met and married Walter, together they settle in New Jersey to raise their family. Marie worked as a bookkeeper for a medical company and as a bookkeeper for her brother in law's company before retiring and moving with her husband to the Worcester area to be near their children. Marie was a traditional Italian mother who cherished her husband, children and grandchildren. The special moments in her life were spent with them during holiday's and family gatherings. Her family was her life and inspiration. A period of calling hours will be held from 8:30 am to 9:30 am Friday August 17th in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St before proceeding to the Chapel of Notre Dame du Lac, 555 Plantation St. where a her funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am. Burial will take place next to her husband Walter at 1:30 pm in the Veterans Administration National Cemetery in Bourne Mass. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Notre Dame Du Lac, assisted living facility, 555 Plantation St 01605. The family of Marie would like to thank the Notre Dame du Lac assisted living center, the Christopher house nursing home and the Mercadante Funeral Home Staff for all the care compassion and understanding they have given to the Donat family in a time of need.
