Evelyne Alexis, of Worcester, Massachusetts died Saturday, August 4th, 2012 at home, surrounded by her loving family, after a long battle against cancer. Born in Haiti, July 28th, 1948, Evelyne was born to the late Marianne Lucas and Abner Alexis. She is survived by two brothers, Claude Alexis of Haiti, Hymeler Alexis of New York; one sister, Myrlande Alexis of Worcester, MA. She moved to the United States in 1973 where she resided in Brooklyn, NY. Later, she moved to Elizabeth, NJ where she lived for several years and then relocated to Worcester, MA in 1999. She worked as a certified nursing assistant for many years at the Saint Francis Home in Worcester, MA. Evelyne is survived by her six children: Robert Edouard Jr. and his wife Jennifer of Worcester, MA; Rhoda Edouard and her husband Fritz Duchatelier of Dorchester, MA Kerlyne Alexis-Pinkins and her husband Carron of Detroit, MI; Edwidge Edouard of Elizabeth, NJ; Kenson Edouard of Elizabeth, NJ; and Jean Robert Edouard and his wife Michou of Kissimmee FL. She was also survived by eight grandchildren: Francesca, Frida, Antoinette, Benjamin, Nicholas, Jacqueline, Bryan, Emilie and her dog Disco and several cousins, nieces and nephews. Calling hours for Evelyne will be held on Friday, August 10, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester. Her Funeral will be held on Saturday, from the funeral home, with a Mass at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Loreto Church, 33 Massasoit Road, Worcester. Entombment will follow in Notre Dame Mausoleum.
