Dr. Julie (Guilbert) Maher, M.D., 33, of Framingham, formerly of Worcester, passed away on Monday, August 6, 2012, in her home, surrounded by loving family. Julie is survived by her loving husband of six years, Scott V. Maher and their two year old daughter, Megan J. Maher. She is also survived by her parents, Dr. and Mrs. Daniel B. and Janet F. (Johnson) Guilbert of Worcester; a brother Matthew J. Guilbert and his wife Dana of San Diego; her maternal grandparents, Richard and Lucy Johnson of Haverhill; her paternal grandparents, Ronald and Jacqueline Guilbert of Haverhill; her father in law, Vincent Maher and his wife Ellen of Worcester; a brother in law, Timothy Maher and his wife April of Southbridge; many aunts, uncles, cousins as well as nieces and nephews. Julie was born in Worcester, where she graduated as class Valedictorian from Saint Peter-Marian High School. She later graduated Magna Cum Laude from Trinity College in Hartford and earned her Medical Degree from University of Massachusetts Medical School in Worcester. She and Scott then moved to Providence where she was a Resident in the Brown University Program at Rhode Island Hospital, where she earned the distinction of Chief Resident. Julie completed her infectious disease fellowship at Tufts Medical Center in Boston and during that time, also earned a Masters Degree in Public Health. She was recognized as an outstanding Fellow at Tufts Medical Center, and in her honor the University is naming an academic award, "The Dr. Julie Maher Award for Clinical Excellence". Relatives and friends are invited to join her family for calling hours on Sunday, August 12, from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester. A Memorial Service for Dr. Maher will be held on Monday, August 13, at 11 a.m. in Trinity Lutheran Church, 73 Lancaster Street, Worcester.
