James P. Hicks, 53 of Worcester, formerly of Northbridge, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 29, 2012 in Kindred Healthcare Center. James is survived by his three beloved children, Jacquelyn C. Hicks, Victoria M. Hicks and James C. Hicks all of Whitinsville; his former wife, Colleen M. Holohan of Whitinsville; a brother, James Cassanelli and his wife Donna of Spring Valley, CA; nieces and nephews. James was born in Worcester, a son of the late James A. Hicks and Irene (Guzauckas) Kozlowski and has lived here most of his life. He graduated from Holy Name High School and later received his Bachelors in Aerospace Engineering from St. Louis University. James worked as a computer programmer and analyst for NCS Technologies, Raytheon, National Grid and Fidelity Investments. He also worked as a financial systems manager for Berkley College of Music. James was a member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church. He volunteered for the Special Olympics, loved music and astronomy. James' greatest enjoyment in life was he loved his children and spending time with them was precious to him. He was also a ham radio operator, "KE1HF is silent." A funeral service for James will be held on Wednesday, August 1, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery. A period of calling hours will be held on Wednesday, August 1st from 9:00-10:30 a.m. in the funeral home prior to his funeral service.
