Donald D. "Mouse" Spring, Sr., 78 of Worcester, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 25, 2012 at UMASS Memorial Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Donald is survived by his wife of forty-four years, Ann S. (Chester) Spring; three daughters, Donna Spring of Worcester, Cheryl Barnwell and her husband Mark of Columbia, SC, and Karen Watkins and her husband Frank of Worcester; five sons, Donald Spring, Jr. and his wife Lisa of Worcester, George Spring and his wife Ann Pingitore-Spring of Auburn, and Jeffrey Spring and his wife Wendy, Derek Spring, and Damian Spring of Worcester; two aunts, Beatrice Ware and Marion Miller both of Worcester; a sister-in-law, Mary Barnes of Worcester; a brother-in-law, James Chester and his wife Irma of Auburn; eighteen grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by a daughter, Tanya Spring; and two grandsons, Nathan Watkins and Jamal Graham. Donald was born in Worcester, the son of the late Elizabeth Spring and George Burton and has lived here all his life. He graduated from North High School and was nominated as an all-star in football, basketball, and baseball. Donald worked for the City of Worcester Street Department before he retired in 2000. He was a member of Second Baptist Church. He was also an avid sports enthusiast. A memorial service for Donald will be held on Friday, August 3, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester. A period of calling hours will be held on Friday, August 3rd from 9:00-11:00 a.m. in the funeral home prior to his memorial service. Flowers are welcome.
