Harriet M. Thayer, 83, a longtime resident of Worcester, died peacefully Friday, July 20, 2012 in Millbury Health Center in Millbury after a period of failing health. She leaves her son, Stephen T. Thayer of Worcester; three brothers, Steven Thayer of New York, Clifton Thayer of Mashfield, MA and Walter Thayer of Jacksonville Beach, FL; a sister, Grace Taylor of Canterbury, NH; many nieces, nephews and cousins including Virginia Littlefield and Caroline Malone. She also leaves her furry companions Emma and Daisy. She was preceded in death by her son, Thomas P. Thayer and two brothers, Paul and Edwin Thayer. Harriet was the daughter of the late Paul and Virginia (Smalley) Thayer and was born in Holden on December 2, 1928. She was a graduate of Classical High School. She then attended secretarial school. Ms. Thayer lived most of her life in life in Worcester. She worked for over 27 years as an administrative secretary for Massachusetts Parole Board retiring in 2003. Harriet loved to read, enjoyed puzzles, crosswords, word search and especially loved vacationing in Maine. No services will be held.
