Leo F. DiPadua, 93, of Shrewsbury, passed away on Saturday, June 30, 2012 in the Blaire House of Worcester. He is survived by his loving wife of fifty-three years, Irene J. (Caika) DiPadua; three brothers, Pasquale "Pat" DiPadua of Worcester, Michael DiPadua of Shrewsbury and Peter DiPadua of Worcester; three sisters, Nancy Rose and Jennie Kewley both of Shrewsbury and Rose Mahoney of Hopkinton; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Matteo and James DiPadua and by two sisters, Antoinette Ciccone and Lucy Davio. Leo was born in Worcester, son of Francesco and Maria (Impagnatiello) DiPadua. He was educated in the Worcester public school system and later served his nation proudly in the United States Marine Corps during World War II. He was awarded a Purple Heart for injuries he endured in the Battle of Okinawa. He worked for many years for the United States Post Office in Shrewsbury Center, before retiring. He was a member of Saint Anne's Church, the Victor Quaranta Post American Legion in Shrewsbury, the Friends of Shrewsbury and the Shrewsbury Senior Center. Calling hours for Leo will be held on Monday, July 2, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester. His Funeral will be held on Tuesday, July 3, from the funeral home with a Mass celebrated at 9:30 a.m. in Saint Anne's Church, 120 Boston Turnpike Road (Route 9), Shrewsbury. Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery, Shrewsbury
