Biagio Girardi, 74, of Millbury died Tuesday June 12, 2012 in the UMASS Medical Center with his loving family around him. He is survived by his wife Joann M. (Feraco) Girardi, a son Angelo J. "AJ"Girardi and his wife Kristin of New Jersey, Leslie A Girardi and her boyfriend Tony Cesaitis of Millbury, one brother Roger "Rocky" Girardi and his wife Estelle of Worcester, a sister Mary Ritacco wife of the late William Ritacco of Worcester and two grandchildren; Joshua and Abigail. And many nephews, nieces, and cousins here and in Acri. Biagio was born in Acri, Provencia di Cosenza, Italy son of the late Angelo and Cristina (Adimari) Girardi and came to the United States when he was 13 years old. He was a graduate of Commerce High School. Biagio worked for the Rand & Whitney Company for many years, and also worked as a toll collector on the Massachusetts Turnpike for many years before he retired. After he retired he worked as a Funeral Assistant for the Manzi Funeral Home and then for the Mercadante Funeral Home. Biagio was loved by many and considered everyone as family which was the most important gift in his life. He was always ready to help anyone that needed his help no matter what! He will be sadly missed by his family and friends. Biagio was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel-St Ann Church,The Cristoforo Columbus Son's of Italy in America Lodge # 168, and their Bocci League. In his younger years Biagio was a coach for the Millbury Little League, and played in the Championship Basketball Team at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church. He enjoyed sports and family time especially with his children and grandchildren. Biagio's funeral will be held Monday June 18 from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL 370 Plantation St. With a Mass of Christian burial at 11:00 A.M. in the Church of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel-St Ann 24 Mulberry St. Calling hours in the Funeral home are Sunday from 3:00P.M. to 6:00 P.M. Interment will be in St John's Cemetery.
