Maria Theresa (Padovano) Fotiades, 69, of Plymouth passed away Saturday, June 2nd 2012 in her home with her cherished family gathered beside her after a brief and courageous battle with cancer. Maria was born July 27th 1942 in Worcester, one of seven children born to Patsy J. and Katherine (Fulginiti) Padovano. She graduated from Commerce High School. Maria then met and married the love of her life of the past 46 years, James M. Fotiades; together they settled in Plymouth to raise their family . Besides her husband James, Maria is survived by her four children, Michael Fotiades and his wife Jill of Needham, Thomas Fotiades and his wife Julie of Winthrop, Pamela Brunone and her husband David of Plymouth, Maria Lamb and her husband Chris of New York State; four brothers, Arthur A. Padovano of Farmington CT, Ronald P. Padovano of Worcester, William R. Padovano of Charlton and Richard W. Padovano of Whitinsville; her sister and best friend, Kathy J. Kiritsy of Holden; six grandchildren, she cherished and who cherished her, James "Jimmy", Grace, Michael "Mac", Caleigh, Gavin, James "Jay"; Many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Maria was preceded in death by her parents Patsy and Katherine, and her sister, Patricia Padovano. Maria had a passion for travel and a fondness for the ocean. She devoted her life to her husband, her family, children and grandchildren .They were her life and inspiration. She cherished the special family gatherings where everyone could be together. Maria's employment as a nurse lead to caring for those ill and in need of medical attention. She began her career in nursing at Worcester City Hospital, then to School Nursing in Plymouth, and on to several doctor's office before retiring with more than 30 years in the medical field helping others. Friends and relatives are invited to visit the family, Wednesday June 6th from 9:30 am to 11:00 am in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. Worcester. Her funeral service will begin at 11:00 am. Interment will follow in Hope Cemetery.
