Victor Bovenzi, 83, of Worcester, passed away on Friday, May 25, 2012 in Autumn Village Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Victor is survived by his son, Michael J. Bovenzi and his wife Paula (Crowley); two adored granddaughters, Michaela and Amanda, two brothers, Frank Bovenzi in Florida and David Bovenzi in Connecticut; a sister Dolores Withers in Florida and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Louis and Edward and by a sister Margaret. Victor was born in Brooklyn, New York, son of the late Frank and Margaret (Falcone) Bovenzi and has lived most of his life in Worcester. For many years, Victor served his nation proudly. He began his military service during World War II in the Army Air Corps and continued to serve the Army Air National Guard, through the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. Staff Sergeant Bovenzi remained dedicated to his military career until 1984. Victor was a hard working man, who not only served his nation for many years, but worked as a mental health worker for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts at Worcester State Hospital. After retirement Victor worked many years at the Worcester Juvenile Court where he developed many close and life-long friendships. He also owned and operated TNT Pizza on Park Avenue in Worcester. He was a member of Our Lady of Loreto Church, The Italian American Victory Club, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3, the Men's Biscegliese Society and was a founding member of Pope John Knights of Columbus. Calling hours for Victor will be held on Wednesday, May 30, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester. His Funeral will be held on Thursday, May 31, from the funeral home with a Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Loreto Church, 33 Massasoit Road, Worcester. Interment will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery, Worcester. The family requests that flowers be omitted and contributions made to American Heart Association, 20 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701.
