Phillip A Sanderson

Phillip A. Sanderson, 66, of Worcester, a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend passed away Sunday May 20th with the family he so loved gathered beside him. Phillip was born in Worcester, the only child born to Alfred and Janice (Brooks) Sanderson. He graduated from High School, joined the U.S. Army to serve his country during the Vietnam War. Upon returning to Worcester he has lived here all his life. Phillip is survived by the family he cherished, his wife, best friend and partner of the past 32 years, Beverley (Avedisian) Sanderson; two sons, Steven Sanderson and his wife Lisa of Whitinsville, Scott Sanderson and his wife Michelle of Charlton; three step-children , Michelle Naple of Florida, Michael Naple, Marci Bartkiewicz and her husband Joseph all of Worcester; eleven grandchildren that were his world, Chelsea, Nicole, Lindsey, Tatiana, Michael, Teahna, Domanick, Mahriana, Blayne, Sierra and Matthew; many other extended family and a host of friends. A daughter Sarah Sanderson passed away at birth. Phil worked over 20 years as a machinist for the Dienes Corporation in Spencer before retiring. Even after retirement the Company would call with questions about his machines and he would gladly offer his help. He previously worked a 23 years career for the Warner-Swasey Corporation in Worcester. Phillip enjoyed many things including bowling, all types of car racing including NASCAR, flea markets and especially fishing which was his passion. In life, Phil was a devoted family man, he was considered by them to be an awesome father and amazing man, who spoiled his wife, children and grandchildren. Whenever he could he spent time with them enjoying life. He was a man who could fix anything and would help anyone who asked. Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family Wednesday May 23rd from 3 pm to 6 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. A prayer service will follow at 6 pm.
