David B. Berridge, 67 of Shrewsbury, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 15, 2012 at home surrounded by his beloved family after fighting a long battle with cancer. David is survived by his loving wife of thirty-seven years, Sharon J. (Rossetti) Berridge; his son, Zachary Berridge and his fiancée Yolanda Taffanelli of Worcester; his daughter, Jennifer Cipolla and her husband Donald of Toronto, Canada; two sisters, Karen Berridge of Norwood and Marianne Flynn of Malden; his mother-in-law, Marjorie Rossetti of Millbury; sisters-in-law, Valerie Briggs of Hanover and Donna Rossetti of Worcester and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by a brother, Thomas Berridge, Jr. David was born in Winchester, Ma, a son of the late Thomas Berridge, Sr. and Mildred (O'Connor) Berridge. He graduated from Silver Lake Regional High School. He later received a Bachelor's of Science in Engineering Technology from Northeastern University. David was a Master Gunnery Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps, serving his country in two tours of duty in the Vietnam War retiring in 1992 after thirty-one years of service. He worked as a bio-medical engineer for many years at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital as well as for Brigham and Women's Hospital and the former Data General. David was a resident of Shrewsbury for twenty-four years where he was a member of St. Anne's Church and a coach for the Shrewsbury High School Speech and Debate Team. He also was a former leader for the Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts and a member of the Worcester Rifle and Pistol Club. David's funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 19, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester. Burial will follow at St. Patrick's Cemetery, 125 Central St., Rockland, MA. A period of calling hours will be held on Friday, May 18th from 4:00-7:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
