John F. Sullivan, 91 of Worcester, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 2, 2012 in Holy Trinity Nursing and Rehabilitation Center surrounded by his loving family. John's wife, Ann J. (Kawcab) Sullivan passed away in 1972. He is survived by a son, John P. "Jack" Sullivan; a daughter, Caroline M. Sullivan; a sister, Rita Hassett all of Worcester; many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by a son, Joseph M. Sullivan; a brother, Joseph Sullivan; a sister, Mary Roche. John was born in Worcester, a son of the late Patrick and Nora (Colbert) Sullivan and has lived here all his life. He attended St. John's High School. John worked in the shipping and maintenance department for General Electric for thirty-five years before retiring in 1982. He was a member of St. Paul's Cathedral. He was also a member of the Worcester Lodge of Elks. John was an avid New England sports fan especially for the Red Sox and loved reading. A funeral service for John will be held on Friday, May 4, 2012 at 12:00 noon in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery, Worcester. A period of calling hours will be held on Friday, May 4th from 10:30-11:30 a.m. in the funeral home prior to the funeral service.
