Carmen D. (Sierra) Vartanian, 56, of Worcester passed away peacefully Friday, April 13th with her devoted family gathered beside her. Carmen was born in New York City, one of seven children born to Jaime Sierra and Magdalena (Roman) Rodriguez and has lived most of her life in Worcester. Carmen is survived by the family she loved so much. Her four children, Shawn L. Medina, Stacey M. Torres and her husband Jason, Robyn Lee and Justin Vartanian; her mother, Magdalena (Roman) Rodriguez; five brothers and a sister; six grandchildren, Jimmy, Joshua, Alexis, Ayla, Solei and Will; her former husband Robert "Bob" Vartanian; many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Carmen worked as an instructional aide for the Worcester School Department over 15 years before retiring due to illness. Carmen enjoyed decorating her home, collecting pillows and angels, and playing practical jokes. She was a devoted mother and grandmother, whose love and legacy will live on in her family. She realized her most enjoyable moments in life with her family and friends. She will be greatly missed. Funeral services for Carmen will be held Tuesday, April 17th at 11:30 am in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery. Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family, Monday, April 16th from 5 pm to 8 pm in the funeral home.
