Italia "Tillie" Lomartire

April 30, 1917 — April 7, 2012

Italia D. "Tillie" (DeSimone) Lomartire passed in peace Holy Saturday, April 7, 2012. Preceded in death by her dear husband, Albert. Loving mother of Barbara Ann, wife of Brian Mahoney of Boylston, with whom she lived. Italia was the proud grandmother of Sean Mahoney of Worcester, and Erin Keller; and Sean and Jenna Keller (Italia's great-grandchildren), all of Rutland. Italia is also survived by her sister Frances Tomaiolo of Worcester, and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased were sisters: Mary Caputo, Anne Ugone, Phyllis DeSimone, Antoinette Latino and Rose Lavoie; and brothers: Joseph, Nicholas and Louis DeSimone. She was born in Worcester daughter of the late Francesco and Maria ( Marapese) DeSimone and lived here all her life. Albert and Italia were the proud owners of Dolore's Bridal Shop in the former Worcester Center until Albert's death in 1978. Italia loved her work in sales, having also worked at Clayton's, Charles Kay and the Ivy Shop. She was a life member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel-St Ann Church, and it's Golden Age Club, also the Worcester Lodge #168 O.S.I.A. Italia was past president of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Women's Guild and was involved, for a time, in the ITAM Cultural Center. She was formerly on the board of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Apartments, where she resided until 2009. Italia loved marching in the Columbus Day parades, partaking in many charitable events with her friends, and, especially, working at the polls at election time. She, proudly, twice received the keys to the city. Italia would have celebrated her 95th Birthday on April 30th. We know all the angels join us in wishing Italia all the blessings of Heaven. Italia's funeral will be held Tuesday April 10, 2012 from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL 370 Plantation St. with a Mass of Christian burial at 11:00AM in the Church of Our Lady of Mt.
