Carlo J. Gallo, 92 of Worcester passed away quietly on Saturday Morning March 31st in his home. Carlo was born January 7th 1920 in Worcester, a son of Giovanni and Julia (Mastrotataro) Gallo. He graduated from Worcester Boys Trade, joined the U.S. Army during World War II, serving in the combat engineers. Upon return to Worcester, Carlo took a Job as a tool maker for Norton Company and remained there over 39 years before retiring in 1978. Carlo's wife of 53 years, Lucille T. (Cangello) Gallo passed away in 1995. He is survived by his very Dear Friends Deborah and Steven Caligaris and their family, whom he thought of as his own. Mary and Larry DiGregorio whom he celebrated Thanksgiving and Palm Sunday with, Peter and Karen Cangello who always celebrated Christmas Eve together, Paul and Mary Alice Moynahan whom he always looked forward to seeing with scratch tickets in hand for the kids. Carlo also leaves two sisters in law, Millie Gallo and Lisa Moynahan; several nieces and nephews, extended family and many friends. Carlo was pre deceased by a brother Daniel Gallo and a sister, Victoria Thibodeau. Carlo was a founding member and past president of the Columbus Civic Association. A member of St Anne Church, the Eastside Post 201 American Legion, the Pope John Council Knights of Columbus and the Men's Biscegliese Society. Carlo was a gentleman who people would admire for his kind nature, quick wit and dedication to his friends. Carlo could light up any room he entered. He could often be seen playing cards with his friends at the post, civic club or the biscegie. Carlo's funeral will be held Wednesday, April 4th from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL; 370 Plantation St. WITH A Mass at 10:00 am in St Anne Church, 130 Boston Turnpike Rd Shrewsbury. Friends are invited to calling hours Tuesday, April 3rd from 4 pm to 7 pm in the funeral home. Burial with Military Honors will follow next to his wife in St John Cemetery.
