Edward J. Tuite, 84, of Blackstone, passed away Wednesday March 28, 2012 with his beloved family by his side. Edwards's longtime sweetheart Florence G. (Brennan) Green passed away in 2002. His extended family an son, John E Green passed away in 2003, a daughter, Eleanor Stebbins passed away in 1989 and a granddaughter Terri-Anne Stebbins passed away in 2009. A brother Joseph also predeceased him. He is survived by a son in law Albert Stebbins, a daughter in law Shirley Green three grandchildren, Dawn Sims of Worcester, Dr. John E Green Jr PhD. Of Auburn, and Tammy M. McShera of Spencer; seven great grandchildren, Beth Stebbins-Malo, Michelle, and Ashayla Burrell, Albert Stebbins II, Davian and Eric Freeman Jr., and James Jakubiak; two great great grandchildren; nieces, nephews and extended family. Edward was born in Worcester, a son of Arthur J and Mary A (Coffield) Tuite. He graduated from St Paul's Catholic School, joined the U.S. Army during World War II, serving in Central Europe and Rhineland becoming a POW after being captured. Upon returning from the War, Edward returned to school earning his degree in accounting and has lived all of his life in Blackstone. Edward worked more than 35 years as an accountant/truck driver for Carolina and Pilot Freight companies before retiring. He was a member of St Paul's Church in Blackstone. He was an avid sports fan, with special interest in Horse racing. Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family Sunday, April 1st from 3 pm to 6 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. His funeral will be held Monday April 2nd at 9:45 am from the funeral home proceeding in procession to St Paul's Church, 48 St Paul St Blackstone where his mass will be celebrated at 11:00 am. Burial will follow in the church cemetery, St Paul.
