John J. Giordano Jr

John J. Giordano, Jr. 90 of Worcester passed away peacefully Saturday, March 17th 2012 in his home with his devoted family gathered beside him. John is survived by his beloved family; his wife of more than 70 years, Virginia C. (Cenik) Giordano: his two children, Patricia M. Spillane and her husband James, John J. Giordano, III and his wife Sandra; three grandchildren who cherished him, Gina M. Krajca and her husband Michael, Dr. John J. Giordano, IV and his wife Kim, and James J. Spillane; and a great granddaughter Mia Francesca Spillane; many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. John was predeceased by his brother Anthony, and sisters, Minnie Generelli, Theresa Ricardi and Julia DiPinto. He was born in Worcester; son of the late, John J. Giordano, Sr. and Francesca (Ugone) Giordano and was a lifelong Worcester resident. John spent more than 25 years working for Thomas Smith Company as a maintenance machinist before retiring as foreman in 1990. John was a member of Our Lady of Loreto Church, the Pope John Council Knights of Columbus, and the Greendale Retired Men's Club, where he was an avid swimmer. John also enjoyed Golf and could be seen regularly at Green Hill. He liked to Bowl and was a bowling league member for many years. As an Italian he took pride in his heritage, he cherished his family and being with them would always place a smile on his face. Most of all he was able to see three generations of his family grow up and succeed. He will be sadly missed. The family would like to give special thanks to the staff of Americare and Hospice for their exceptional care and compassion. Friends and family are invited to visit with the family Monday, March 19th from 4 pm to 7 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. His funeral will follow on Tuesday, March 20th from the funeral home with a mass at 10:00 am in Our Lady of Loreto Church, 37 Massasoit Road. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 350 Plantation St Worcester 01604.
