Catherine C. (Powers) Zona, 91, a lifetime resident of Worcester, died peacefully Wednesday, March 15, 2012 in Life Care Center of Auburn surrounded by her loving family. She leaves her three sons, Peter Zona of Shrewsbury, John Zona of Grafton and Joseph Zona, Jr. and his wife Joann of Millbury; two daughters, Gloria Baril and her husband Theodore of Worcester and Patricia Armendo and her husband Matthew of Worcester; nine grandchildren and twenty-two great grandchildren. She is predeceased by her husband of 64 years Joseph Zona; a son Armando Zona; a brother, Milford Powers and one grandson Christopher Baril. Catherine was the daughter of the late Catherine M. (Ahearn) Powers and was born in Worcester on May 31, 1920. She was a graduate from the Sisters of St. Joseph. Catherine was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church. A dedicated mother and grandmother, she cherished her family and friends. The greatest moments in her life were the times she could spend caring for her grandchildren and watching them grow. She enjoyed music, bingo and going to the movies. Her funeral will be held from the funeral home on Monday, March 19th beginning at 10 AM followed by a Funeral Mass in Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 1290 Grafton Street, Worcester at 11 AM.
