Chester S Symonaick

Chester S. Symonaick, 81, of Worcester, passed away on Wednesday, March 14th 2012 in his home surrounded by his loving family. Chester's wife of nearly fifty-five years, Jennie A. (Hanzarak) Symonaick passed away April 7th of 2011. He is survived by their six children, Donald C. Symonick and his wife Carolyn of Bellingham, David M. Symonick and Denise Boudreau of Worcester, Sharon L. Symonick and her husband Lloyd H. Christensen of Boulder, CO, Kathleen A. Vescera and her husband Gerald of Uxbridge; Linda M. Simmons and her husband Kelly of Auburn and Janet L. Raymond and her husband Timothy of Holland, MA; a brother, Walter Symonick of Auburn and a sister Julia Gover and her husband Donald of Millbury; Chester and Jennie were blessed with twelve grandchildren, Lauren, Cory, Tyler, Kyle, Ian, Riley, Brooke, Alyssa, Shane, Hannah, Kasey and Evan; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. He was predeceased by a brother, Mack Symonick and three sisters, Anne Brunelle, Sophie Sharrocks and Jane Mulhearn. Chester was born in Worcester, the youngest son of Anthony and Helen (Ruchwa) Symonaick. He joined the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict to serve his country and has lived here all his life. Chester worked as a machinist more than 40 years. He began with the former GE Telecron Company and then spent 30 years with Reed Rolled Thread & Die Company before retiring in 1994. Chester was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church. He was a family man who found his greatest joy spending time playing cards, walking, and travel, the highlight of which was an Alaskan Cruise. He loved to garden, and to go mushrooming, making Polish specialties like sauerkraut with his children and grandchildren and to just spend time with family and friends at home. On Mondays, Chester enjoyed bowling in a league at the Colonial Bowling lanes in Worcester. Chester's funeral will be held on Saturday, March 17th from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester with a Mass at 11 a.m. in Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 1290 Grafton Street, Worcester. Interment with Military Honors will follow in Hope Cemetery. Calling hours will be held from 9:00 am to 10:30 am Saturday morning prior to leaving for church.
