Donato J. DeCiccio, 84, of Worcester, devoted husband, father and grandfather passed away peacefully on what would have been his son, Anthony's 55th birthday, Tuesday, February 28, 2012 at Radius Healthcare Center surrounded by his loving family. Donato's is survived by his loving wife of fifty-seven years, Blandina (Nacchia) DeCiccio; his daughter, Claudia Garofoli and her husband Vincent of Worcester; two grandsons, Samuel Damato and Daniel Garofoli both of Worcester; a brother Alfredo DeCiccio and his wife Cira of West Hartford, CT; a niece and several nephews. He is predeceased by a son Anthony DeCiccio, and a sister, Claudia P. Marinello. Donato was born in Nocera Inferiore, Province Salerno, Italy, a son of the late Antonio and Maria (DiFlorio) DeCiccio, and lived here most of his life. He was a custodian for thirty years at Venerini Academy before retiring in 1993. He attended Our Lady of Mount Carmel-St. Ann Parish where he was an active member for many years. He was also the past treasurer of the Men's San Vitaliano Society, where he was instrumental in organizing the society's annual festivals. Donato was a master craftsman and was very artistic with oil painting and sculpting. He enjoyed playing cards, bocce, golfing and was an avid Red Sox Fan. Donato was a special uncle who was a quiet tower of strength to his niece and nephews. He will forever be missed by his family and friends. He will remain with them always through memories. A funeral service for Donato will be held on Friday, March 2, 2012 at 11:30 a.m. in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester. Burial will follow in Saint John Cemetery, Worcester. A period of calling hours will be held on Friday, March 2, 2012 from 9:30-11:30 a.m. in the funeral home prior to his service.
