Vivian J. (Watkins) Marshall, 94, of Worcester passed away peacefully, Tuesday February 21, 2012, after a period of declining health. Vivian's husband Samuel Marshall passed away many years ago. She leaves two daughters, Mary Scott of Brockton and Elsie Vassar of Worcester; a sister, Mildred Lachie of Alabama; twenty two grandchildren, many great grandchildren and a great great granddaughter; nieces, nephews and friends. Two sons, George and Charles Stills pre deceased her. She was born in Newark, NJ; her parents were Stanis and Elsie (Ray) Watkins. She lived in Worcester, Moved to Connecticut for 20 years before returning here to live with her daughter Elsie in 2000. Vivian worked as a LPN for the Worcester State Hospital before retiring. Vivian was an accomplished classical music singer. She performed for multiple operas and plays and at onetime performed at the MET in New York. She loved to travel and be with family. A Graveside service will be held tomorrow (Friday) at 10:00 am in Hope Cemetery section 99, 163 Webster St. There are no calling hours. The family requests that flowers be omitted. The MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. is handling arrangements.
