Italia R. "Tillie" (Lategola) Tarallo, 96, of Worcester passed away peacefully Tuesday, February 21st in the St Francis Home with her devoted daughter by her side. Tillie was born September 1st 1915 in Worcester, a daughter of Thomas and Rose (Rubino) Lategola and has lived here all her life. Tillie's husband Nicholas F. Tarallo passed away in 1979. She is survived by her two children. Her daughter Jeanne D. Tarallo with whom she lived, and Nicholas F. Tarallo, Jr. of Worcester; a brother Michael Lategola and his wife Barbara in Oklahoma; a sister, Rose Dintino of Worcester; one cherished granddaughter Christi V Turner and a great grandson, Zachary Turner; nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Three sisters, Grace Rahiam, Mary Shattuck and Lucy Wigren, as well as a daughter in law, Victoria Tarallo all pre deceased her. Tillie worked in sales all her life. She worked mostly for Barnard's Department Store in the men's dept. before retiring. Tillie was a devoted and active member of Our Lady of Loreto Church. She volunteered her time at Bingo, Bazaars, the Italian festival and whatever committee she was needed on. Most days Tillie could be found walking daily to and from attending Mass at the church. She would also volunteer her time at St. Vincent Hospital. Tillie enjoyed knitting, reading and had a profound talent for cooking. Most of all she found inspiration in her family. She cherished the times she could be in their company. Tillie's funeral will be held Saturday, February 25th from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St with a Mass at 10:30 am in Our Lady of Loreto Church, 37 Massasoit Rd. Burial will follow next to her husband in St. John's Cemetery. A period of calling hours will be held Saturday from 8:30 am to 10:00 prior to the Mass.
