Rebecca (Mann) Shwayri, 89, of Worcester passed away Saturday February 18th 2012, in the Memorial Hospital, with family gathered beside her. Rebecca was born in 1922, in Sidon Lebanon a daughter of Moses and Leila (Negri) Mann. She grew up in Lebanon and traveled frequently to the US before settling here in 1990. Rebecca's husband Nicholas E. Shwayri passed away in 1990. She is survived by her two children, Dr. Ernest N. Shwayri and his wife Joan of Jupiter Florida, Rita Somi and her husband Joseph of Worcester; seven grandchildren, Rebecca Shwayri and her husband Michael Pagani, Andrea Shwayri and her husband James Ferraro, Nicholas Shwayri, William Shwayri, George, Thomas and Peter Somi; two brothers, and three sisters in both Lebanon and Brazil; Many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Rebecca was a member of St George Orthodox Cathedral. True to her Lebanese Heritage, Rebecca enjoyed Arabic music, cooking Middle Eastern food, traveling to Lebanon and Brazil to visit family. She also, was very particular about her dress and truly enjoyed family and socializing with friends. Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family Thursday February 23rd from 9:30 am to 10:45 am in St George Orthodox Cathedral, 30 Anna St. Worcester, Ma. A Funeral service will follow at 11:00 am in the Cathedral. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery.
