William P. (Billy) Smeagle, 68, of Paxton, MA passed away peacefully surrounded by his family and close friends on Friday, February 17, 2012 in St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester. He is survived by his loving wife of almost forty four years, Catherine (Nally) Smeagle; his son Ryan of Paxton; a daughter Lynn and her husband Christopher Shea of Worcester; three grandchildren, Catherine Fenuccio of Fairfax, VA, Matthew Legor and Jacklyn Shea of Worcester. William also leaves a sister Kathleen, wife of Frank Feraco of Richland, MI, formerly of Worcester; a brother, Walter Smeagle of Westborough, nieces and nephews. He was preceded by Anthony Montiverdi who raised him from a young age. William was born in Worcester, son of William P. Smeagle and Caroline (Zukowski) Montiverdi, and lived in Worcester until moving to Paxton twenty five years ago. He was a graduate of the former Worcester Boys Trade High School. William worked for Red Star Express Line as a truck driver for twenty years and was a member of the Teamsters Local 170. William owned and operated W.P. Smeagle Rubbish and Demolition Removal and had been in business for forty years. Billy as he was known to most was a kind, generous, hardworking man who always had a smile on his face. Billy's legacy and business will continue with his son Ryan and grandson Matthew. He loved watching Boston sports, Wheel of Fortune and listening to Willie Nelson. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and all that had the privilege of knowing him. You are invited to attend his visiting hours in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester, from 4-8 pm Thursday, February 23rd. His funeral will be held from the funeral home on Friday, February 24th with a Mass at 11 am in Christ the King Church, 1026 Pleasant St. Worcester.
