Edward R. Londergan, 86, of Worcester, passed away on Tuesday, February 16, 2012 in Saint Vincent Hospital. He is survived by his loving wife of sixty-three years, Jean A. (Dalton) Londergan; two daughters, Liz Plonski and her husband Joseph of Worcester and Ellen J. Puopolo and her husband Brian of Marstons Mills; a sister, Mable Goodney of Worcester; four grandchildren, Geoffrey, Andrew, Daniel and Tess; a great granddaughter, Scarlett; nieces and nephews. His brother, William Londergan, Jr., predeceased him. Edward was born in Worcester, son of the late, William and Viola (Moge'), and has lived here all his life. He graduated from Worcester's High School of Commerce and later served his nation proudly in the United States Navy, during World War II. Edward worked as Paymaster at the former New England Gas and Electric Company, now NSTAR, for over forty one years. He was a member of Our Lady of Loreto Church, having been a member of the former Saint Margaret Mary Church. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus. Ed loved his Lincoln Town Car and could be found washing and keeping it clean, all the time. He loved sports and was an enthusiastic New England Patriots fan. He was a great husband, father and grandfather, who enjoyed his family and the special times he would spend with them. He was affectionately known to the kids as "Edda". Calling hours will be held on Tuesday morning, February 21, from 8 a.m. until 10 a.m. in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester. His Funeral Mass will follow at 10:30 a.m. in Our Lady of Loreto Church, 33 Massasoit Road, Worcester. Interment will follow in Saint John's Cemetery, Worcester.
