Daniel J. Mastrototaro, 78, formerly of Holden, passed away on Monday, February 6, 2012 in St. Petersburg, Florida, after a brief illness. Daniel is survived by his wife, Helen (Beauchesne) Mastrototaro, with whom he would have celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary on Saturday, February 11; their five children, John J. Mastrototaro of Los Angeles, Nancy A. Mastrototaro of Jefferson, Daniel J. Mastrototaro, Jr. of Jefferson, Julie A. Dalton and her husband James of Holden and Mark Mastrototaro of Charlestown; a sister, Grace Sakalowosky and her husband Peter in Connecticut; nine grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Born in Worcester, son of the late John and Donata (Losciale) Mastrototaro, he graduated from Worcester's North High School. He later served his nation proudly for nine years in the Massachusetts National Guard, 181st infantry medical company. He owned and operated DJ Mastrototaro Painting Company, for many years, before retiring and moving to Florida in 2003. He was a charter member of the Columbus Civic Club. Daniel coached hockey for many years in the Wachusett Youth Hockey program, and coached youth baseball in Holden. He enjoyed fishing and going to the sporting events of his kids and grandkids. He cherished the times spent with his wife and a group of close friends (club). Calling hours for Daniel will be held in Friday, February 10, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester. His Funeral will be held on Saturday, February 11, from the funeral home, with a Mass at 10 a.m. in Saint Anne's Church, 130 Boston Turnpike Road (route 9), Shrewsbury. Interment will follow in Saint John's Cemetery, Worcester. In lieu of flowers, donations in Dan's memory may be made to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, P.O.
