Rita M. (Tortora) Federico, 96 of North Graton, formerly of Worcester, passed away peacefully on February 6, 2012 in St. Vincent's Hospital surrounded by her family. Rita's husband of sixty-two years, Donato D. Federico passed away September 2002. She is survived by her beloved daughter, Linda T. Baker and her husband Michael J. of North Grafton; two grandchildren, Gina Bandalewicz and her husband Brian of Worcester and Michael J. Baker, Jr. and his wife Maria of Abington, MA; a great granddaughter, Camdyn E. Baker; many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by two brothers, Edward A. and Alfred C. Tortora. Rita was born in Worcester, the daughter of the late Michael E. and Antoinette (Sbrogna) Tortora. She lived in Worcester till 1998 and later moved to North Grafton where she has resided ever since. She attended Worcester Schools. Rita worked as a supervisor for the former Denholm & McKay for thirty years before retirement in the early 1970's. She was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel-St. Ann Parish where she was involved in the Golden Years and also volunteered for the Friends of R.S.V.P. Rita attended the Grafton Senior Center everyday where she could enjoy other people's company and be herself. She loved to bake, cook and crochet blankets for people in need. Services for Rita will be held on Thursday, February 9, 2012 from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester with a Mass at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 24 Mulberry St. Burial with her husband will follow at Saint John Cemetery, Worcester. A period of calling hours will be held on Thursday, February 9th from 9:00-10:30 a.m. in the funeral home prior to the Mass.
