Michael J. Lawton

Michael J. Lawton, 53, of Auburn died peacefully Friday February 3, 2012 in the UMASS Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his wife of five years Kathleena (Perez) Lawton, a daughter Lindsey R. Lawton of Worcester, his father Arthur Lawton Sr. a brother Thomas R. Lawton and his wife Linda, four sisters; Debrah A. Goodman , Tracy L. Cartagena and her husband David , Kelly A. Petrone and her husband Anthony and Gloria J. Rosario and her husband Danny all of Worcester. Many nephews and nieces. And his canine buddy "Nikko." A brother Arthur Lawton Jr. predeceased him. Michael was born in Albany N. Y. son of the late Barbara (Gibney) Lawton, and came to Worcester as a child. He was a graduate of North High School. Michael served in the National Guards. He was a bus driver for the Worcester Regional Transit Authority for many years before he retired. Mike attended Our Lady of Mt. Carmel-St Ann Church and was a member of the Amalgamated Transit Union Local #22. He was an avid Yankee Fan, enjoyed Golfing, and enjoyed a good day at the Casino!! However he was most happy when he was with his family. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. The family would like to thank Dr Adel Bozorgzadeh and his staff at the UMASS Medical Center for their Kindness and Compassion shown to Michael and his family during his stay there. Michael's funeral will be held Monday from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL 370 Plantation St. with a Mass of Christian burial at 11:00AM in Our Lady Of Mt Carmel-St Ann Church 24 Mulberry St. A Calling hour will be held from 9:00AM to 10:30AM in the funeral home prior to leaving for church. Interment will be in St. Johns Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Liver Transplant Program in care of the UMASS Medical Center Development 333 South St. Shrewsbury ,MA. 01545.
