Michael J. "Papa" Moore, 93, of Worcester died peacefully Thursday January 26, 2012 in the Auburn Life Care Center with his family around him. He is survived by his devoted wife of 60 years Angelina "Angie" (Zambarano) Moore, his children; James F. Moore and his wife Angela of Worcester, a daughter Patricia A. Woodward and her long time companion David Phelps, five grandchildren; Christopher, Michael, Ashlee, Michael J. and Thomas, and five great grandchildren. Michael, is also survived by a sister Helena Hackett, and several generations of nephews and nieces. Michael was born in Worcester son of the late Roger and Margaret (Mooney) Moore and has lived in Worcester all his life. He was a graduate of St. John's High School. Michael served his nation proudly in the United States Army during WW11. He worked for the City of Worcester School department for many years as a custodian before he retired. Michael was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel-St Ann Church, and was also a member of the Vernon Hill Post American Legion #435. Mike was a past president of the Gehrig Babe Ruth Little league for many years. He enjoyed his Red Sox, and loved to walk. But mostly he enjoyed his time with his family, especially his grand and great grandchildren. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. The family would like to thank the staff at the Auburn Life Care Center for their kind and professional care they extended to Mike and his family. Michael's funeral service will be held Monday at 11:00AM in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL 370 Plantation St. Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 3PM to 6PM.
