Grace M Simone

Grace M. (Lopolito) Simone, 74, of Worcester was stricken ill in her sleep, and passed away, Friday January 20th 2012, four years to the day after her husband of 45 years, Pietro "Peter" Simone passed away. Grace was born in Worcester, daughter of the late Francesco and Lucrezia Lopolito. She graduated from Commerce High school, class of 1956 and has lived here all her life. Grace is survived by her two sons, Joseph F. Simone of Worcester and Frank Simone with whom she lived; a brother, Pasquale Lopolito; a sister in-law, Rita (Simone) Valente of Bisceglie "Bari", Italy; nieces, nephews and extended family. Grace worked for the City of Worcester more than 25 years in the offices of several departments before retiring. She was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church. Grace enjoyed baking, cooking and spending time with her friends at the Worcester Senior Center. Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family, Monday, January 23rd from 5 pm to 8 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. Her funeral service will be held Tuesday, January 24th 2012 at 11:00 am in the funeral home. Burial will follow in St John Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial remembrances may be made to the Simone Family Trust, care of Bank of America, 188 Boston Turnpike Rd. Shrewsbury 01545.
