Leo R. Ginga, 88 of Worcester, passed away peacefully Tuesday January 18th 2012 in Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. Leo was born in Fayville, Mass, son of Ercole and Elizabeth (Della Costanza) Ginga. He graduated from Peter's High School and joined the U.S. Army. He served during World War II with the 594th EB & SR Regiment (Amphibious Unit) in the Pacific Theatre. Leo is survived by his wife of 54 years, Dolores D. (LeClair) Ginga; his four children, Richard Ginga and his wife Etta of Charlton; Elizabeth Ginga of Jamaica Plain, Marie Ginga of Corrales New Mexico, Donna Ginga and her partner Alicia Stewart of Northampton; three cherished grandchildren, Maya, Corin, and Jacob; a sister-in-law, Bea Ginga; many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. He was predeceased by two brothers, Rollo Genga, Henry Ginga and a sister, Mary Randall. He began his working career at G.E. Telecron, working beside his wife, then for Worcester Molded Plastics and Springfield Molded in Monson before retiring in 1988. Leo was a member of St. Joan of Arc Church, the Knights of Columbus Council #119 in Southborough, the VFW Post 6907 in West Boylston and the Greendale Retired Men's Club. He was an avid golfer and bowler. Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family Friday January 20th from 4 pm to 7 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. His funeral will be held Saturday, January 21st from the funeral home with a Mass at 10:00 am in St Joan of Arc Church, 570 Lincoln St. Burial with Military honors will follow in Rural Cemetery, Southborough.
