Helen Lorraine (Croteau) Pedone, 77, of Shrewsbury passed away Tuesday, January 3rd 2012 suddenly yet peacefully in her home. Helen is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 56 years, Francis Pedone; her sons, Francis W. Pedone, Jr. and his wife Susan of Spencer, Nicholas J. Pedone and his wife Shirley of Worcester; a brother, Robert "Joe" Croteau; two sisters, Phyllis Asselin and Linda Hanley; three adored grandchildren, Christina, Elizabeth and Evan; two cherished great grandchildren, Jayson and Jocelynn; Many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Helen was born in Millbury, a daughter of Wilfred and Blanche (Morin) Croteau. She attended Millbury High School and lived many years in Millbury before moving to Shrewsbury. Helen was employed many years for the Big D Supermarkets before retiring. Helen was a member of Our Lady of Loreto Church. When her boys were in school, she was an active member of the Holy Name High School Booster Club. A quiet simple woman, who cherished her family and husband. Her greatest joy was spending time with her children and grandchildren. The kids spent many happy hours at "Meme's" house. She loved to prepare a big Sunday family dinner and gather them all around. She will be missed greatly. She will also be missed by her girlfriends at the Salem Square YWCA where she enjoyed lots of fun in her swim aerobics classes. Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family Thursday (today) January 5th from 5 pm to 8 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St Worcester. Her celebration of Life funeral will be held Friday, January 6th from the funeral home with a Mass at 10:30 am in Our Lady of Loreto Church, 33 Massasoit Rd. Burial will follow in St Brigid's Cemetery, Millbury. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 350 Plantation St Worcester.
