Anita Scotia, 95, of 475 Chandler St. formerly of Boston, and Fresno California, an accountant and office assistant died peacefully Thursday December 29 2011. She leaves a very close niece, Ursula and her husband Anthony Mistretta; a grandniece Maria and her husband Alfred Gal Jr.all of Florida; a nephew Kirk P. Scotia and his family of Charlton, MA., She also leaves two special friends ,Barbara Washburn of Charlton, and Judy Stockenberg of Worcester, and many nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by four brothers; Anthony, James, and Joseph Scotia, and Charles Sciascia, as well as two sisters; Felecia Paolini,and Josephine DiPierro. She also leaves a granddaughter Danielle Scotia of Southern California. Anita was born in Worcester daughter of the late John and Grace (Monopoli) Sciascia. She grew up in Worcester; lived in Fresno California, and the Boston area for more than 40 years before returning to Worcester. She graduated in 1936 from Commerce High School and attended Bentley College in Boston and Fresno Business College in California. Miss Scotia worked for the State of Massachusetts in Boston as an accountant and office assistant for both the Division of Employment Security and the Division of Fisheries and Wildlife, retiring in 1983. Previously Miss Scotia worked as an assistant to the Budget Director of Boston University, and was supervisor of the Finance Department of Haskins & Sells Ltd., of Boston. Following retirement she worked for the Massachusetts Association for Older Americans in Boston, and also the United Way and as a volunteer at Hahnemann Hospital. She was also involved in several social organizations, Anita was a member of the Charlton Baptist Church, and the Retired State County and Municipal Employees Association of Boston. She was an avid knitter and Red Sox fan. The family would like to thank the Staff of 3 SNF at the Masonic Home for their kindness and care given to Anita during her stay there. A Funeral service for Anita will be held on Thursday at 12 noon in the Charlton Baptist Church 50 Hammond Hill Rd. Charlton, a period of visitation will be from 11:30 to 12 noon in the Church. Interment will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Worcester.
