Rita B Capalbo

Rita B. (LaCoursiere) Capalbo, 83, of Shrewsbury and Wells Beach, Maine, passed away on Monday, December 26, 2011, in the Ichabod Washburn-Hospice Residence, with her loving family by her side. Her husband, Leo Capalbo of Shrewsbury Oil predeceased her in August 1994. Rita was born in 1928 in Worcester, to Arthur and Roseanna (Goulet) LaCoursiere. She was predeased by her brothers, Andrew and Alfred LaCoursiere and by her beloved niece, Mary Frances Capalbo. She worked for forty years as an LPN at Masonic Hospital in Shrewsbury, the Southeast Florida State Hospital in Lantana, FL and USVA Veterans Hospital in Rutland Heights, MA. She also worked with her husband as co-owner of Shrewsbury Oil Company. She is survived by many loving and caring nieces and nephews, especially Joe and Bernadette LaCoursiere of Worcester, Donald and Kathleen LaCoursiere and Steven Capalbo all of Shrewsbury. The family would like to thank Dr. Joseph Savitt and the staff at the Memorial Campus of UMass, Dr. Harrison Ball of the Levine Cancer Center and the VNA nurses, Suzanne Dwindell, Sharon H. and Kerry-their care and compassion was much appreciated. Thank is also expressed to the entire staff at the Ichabod Wahsburn House, in particular, Marie and Lisa Weston. Many thanks to Saint Peregrine for his answer to my prayers and extra time. Calling hours for Rita will be held on Thursday, December 29, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester. Her Funeral will be held on Friday, December 30, from the funeral home with a Mass at 10 a.m. in Saint Anne's Church, 120 Boston Turnpike Road (route 9), Shrewsbury. Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Rita's name may be made to The Disabled American Veterans, P.O. Box 14301, Cincinnati, Ohio 45250-0301
