Duane C. "Rick" Brown, Jr., 61, of Oxford, passed away Saturday, December 24th 2011 in the University of Massachusetts Hospital after being stricken ill at home. Duane was born August 25th 1950 in Milo, Maine. His father was the late, Duane C. Brown, Sr. He grew up in Maine and moved to Worcester. In 1970, Duane married his wife for the past 41 years, Dolores M. (Cross) Brown, and they have lived in Oxford for the past 38 years. In addition to his wife Dolores, Duane is survived by two sons, Paul A. Brown, his wife Crystal, and their two children Dylan and Kelsy all of Charlton, and Kyle C Brown of Oxford; his mother, Mary (Byther) Thorpe of Worcester, thirteen brothers and sisters, his stepmother, Joan Brown in Maine; Many nieces, nephews, extended family and a host of friends. Three siblings pre deceased him. Duane for the last 25 years was General Manager for Stone & Berg Company in Worcester. He was a member of the New England Locksmith Association, and the SHDA Association. He was an associate member of the ALOA Association, Locksmiths of America. Duane cherished his family, and found enjoyment in being with them. He was an avid sports enthusiast. Duane enjoyed coaching his two sons in the Oxford Little League and continued coaching for many more years. He was also a member of the Lincoln Square Boys Club and honored as Boy of the Year. Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family, Wednesday December 28th from 4 pm to 8 pm and Thursday December 29th from 11 am to 12 noon in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. His funeral service will be celebrated Thursday December 29th at 12 noon in the funeral home.
