Sally V. (Bigos) Bennett, 80, of Worcester passed away peacefully, Wednesday December 21st 2011 with her family by her side after a brief illness. Sally's husband of 35 years, Thomas W. Bennett, Jr. passed away in 1987. She is survived by her two devoted children, Thomas W. Bennett with whom she lived, and Lucia M. Baldowski and her husband Walter J.; a brother, Joseph L. Bigos and his wife Arlene; a sister, Genevieve Mirante all of Worcester; a cherished grandson, Timothy Bennett and his wife Holly; two adored great grandchildren Sydney and Allison; nieces and nephews, including Laura Covello, extended family and friends. Sally was born in Worcester, a daughter of Joseph L. and Mary (Starsiak) Bigos. She graduated from St. Mary's High School and has lived here all her life. Sally worked as a school secretary more than 33 years for the City of Worcester School Department before retiring. She began with Providence Street Junior High and then moving to City View when it opened and stayed there until retirement. Sally was a member of St. John's Church. A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Sally cherished caring for her family and making sure of their well being. Her life was inspired by watching her family grow and being in their company. Sally celebration of life's funeral will be held Saturday, December 24th from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. with a Mass at 10:00 am in St John Church, 44 Temple St. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery. Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family Friday, December 23rd from 5 to 7 pm in the funeral home.
