Theodore F. Rojcewicz, of Holyoke, formerly of Millbury, passed away on Thursday, December 15, 2011, at the age on ninety-one, at the Soldiers' Home in Holyoke, MA. He was predeceased by his loving wife of forty-five years, Sophie (Milos) Rojcewicz in 1990. He is survived by his daughter, Jacqueline Moini and her husband Dr. Mohammed Moini of Holyoke; a granddaughter, Micheline Moini and a grandson, Marshall Moini; nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by a daughter, Mary Lou Rojcewicz in 1996; a brother, Stephen Rojcewicz and a sister, Sonya Camarra. He was born on January 29, 1920 in Hudson Falls, New York, the son of Polish immigrants, Gregory and Melanie (Konopinski) Rojcewicz. He graduated from Hudson Falls High School in Kingsbury, NY, class of 1936. He completed carpentry, cabinet making and mechanical drawing classes at Worcester Trade Extension Classes for Men in Worcester. Mr. Rojcewicz was a World War II Veteran of the United States Navy, honorably serving his country from September 1942 until September 1945, rated as a Seaman 2nd class and Quartermaster 3rd class. He was awarded the World War II Victory Medal, American Area Medal, European-African Theatre Medal and the Asiatic-Pacific Medal. He was initiated in to the Sacred Order of the Golden Dragon on August 13, 1945, aboard the M.S. Day Star. Ted worked as a draftsman/designer and die maker at Rand Whitney Container Corporation in Worcester from 1958 until he retired after thirty-four years of work in 1992. Mr. Rojcewicz was a member of Our Lady of Czestochowa Church in Worcester, the Polish American Veterans of World War II and the Eastside Post 201 American Legion. Ted was a loving and caring father and grandfather, a courageous person, with a compassionate heart; he will be deeply missed by his family. Calling hours will be held on FRIDAY, DECEMBER 23, from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m. in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester. His Funeral will be held on MONDAY, DECEMBER 26, from the funeral home with a Mass at 10:30 in Our Lady of Czestochowa Church, 34 Ward Street, Worcester. (please note the separation of days). Interment will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery, where his will be laid to rest with his beloved wife.
