Patricia A. Astrella

Patricia A. Astrella (Shea), 57 of Auburn, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 2, 2011 in Saint Vincent's Hospital after a long illness. Patricia is survived by her son, Ryan Shea and his wife Jennifer of Auburn; two daughters, Lauren Boss and her husband Christopher of Auburn, Linda Giordano and son in law Mike Giordano of Florida; two brothers, Joseph Astrella and wife Elaine of Auburn and Rocco Astrella, Jr. and wife Bernadette of CA; five beloved grandchildren, Aspen, Arienna, Anthony, Jacob and Samuel; many nieces and nephews. Patricia was born in Worcester, the daughter of the late Rocco and Mary (Genese) Astrella. She graduated from North High School and later moved to Auburn where she lived most of her life. She worked as a Lab Technician at Hahnemann Hospital, and Nuclear Medical Technician for Memorial Hospital. Patricia was a member of the Independent Living Council at the Center for Living and Working in Worcester. Patricia fought a long and courageous battle with many illnesses through the years yet always maintained her sense of humor. She loved crafts and spending time with her five grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends. The family of Patricia would like to thank all the staff and her friends at the Life Care Center of Auburn. Services for Patricia will be held on Tuesday, December 6, 2011 from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester with a service at 10:00 a.m. in Liberty Church, 495 Hartford Turnpike, Shrewsbury, MA 01545. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. A period of calling hours will be held on Monday, December 5, 2011 from 4-7 p.m. in the funeral home.
