Louis F. Monfreda

Louis F. Monfreda, 89, of Worcester died peacefully Wednesday November 23, 2011 in the Christopher House surrounded by his loving family. His wife Carmella (Marchese) Monfreda died in 2000. Louis is survived by his loving family; a son Louis R. Monfreda and his wife Karen of Sterling, a son In law Forrest Thorpe Jr. four grandchildren; Chad and Michael Monfreda, and Forrest Thorpe lll and his wife Jessica, and Anthony Thorpe. Louis also leaves a great grandson James Michael Thorpe, and many brother and sister in laws, nephews and nieces. Louis was predeceased by a daughter Susan M. Thorpe, three brothers Alfred, Armand, and Joseph, and three sisters Catherine Killian, and Angelina and Rosemarie Monfreda. Louis was born in Worcester son of the late Raffaele and Clementina (DeAngelis) Monfreda and lived in Worcester all his life, He was a graduate of Commerce High School. Louis worked for the Comeplay Products Company for fifty years before he retired as a Manager in the company. He was a life member of Our Lady of Mt Carmel-St Ann Church, and the San Vitaliano Society. Louie was also a member of the East Side Improvement Club, the Green Hill Golf Association, and the Froshinn Club. Louis was very active throughout his life, he loved to dance, golf, bowl, and really enjoyed being with his family, especially his grandchildren. He loved listening and recording Big Band era music and enjoyed a good game of billiards with the kids. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Louis's funeral will be held Tuesday November 29, from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL 370 Plantation St. with a Mass of Christian burial at 11:00AM in the church of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel-St Ann 24 Mulberry St. a period of visitation will be held on Tuesday from 9:30AM to 10:30AM prior to leaving for church. Interment will be in St Johns Cemetery.
