Eva M. (Pinto) Rourke

Eva M. (Pinto) Rourke, 84 of Worcester, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 23, 2011 in St. Vincent's Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Eva is survived by her devoted husband of sixty-three years, Paul F. Rourke; a son, Paul D. Rourke and his wife Wendy of Worcester; two daughters, Janice E. Freda and her husband Anthony of Enfield, CT and Karen D. Caruso of Providence, RI; two grandsons, Christopher Freda and his wife Brigitte of Feeding Hills, MA and Jeramie Freda and his wife Erin of Natick, MA; two great grandchildren, Chase and Bryce Freda of Feeding Hills, MA; three sisters-in-law, Barbara Thomas and her husband John of Shrewsbury, Kathleen Puzo and her husband Richard of Worcester and Beverly Anthony of Shrewsbury; an aunt, Rita Scarry of Worcester; a cousin, Phyllis Roy of West Boylston; many nieces, nephews and close friends. Eva was born in Worcester, the daughter of the late Antonio C. and Eva (Asselin) Pinto and has lived here all her life. She graduated from Commerce High School. Eva worked as a Matron for the City of Worcester School Department for twenty five years before retiring in 1989. She was a member of the Worcester Municipal Employees Association and St. Joan of Arc Church. She enjoyed crocheting scarves and giving them as gifts. Her life was dedicated to her husband, children, family and friends. She had many friends whose lives she touched deeply. She will be greatly missed by all that knew her. Services for Eva will be held on Monday, November 28, 2011 from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester with a Mass at 10:00 a.m. in St. Joan of Arc Church, 570 Lincoln St., Worcester. Burial will follow at Notre Dame Cemetery. A period of calling hours will be held on Sunday, November 27th from 4-8 p.m. in the funeral home.
