Rose Marie (DiTaranto) Gentile, Robinson, 86, of Holden, formerly of Worcester and Florida passed away peacefully Thursday November 10th 2011 in the Radius Healthcare center in Southbridge with family gathered around her. Rose Marie is survived by her husband of 25 years John "Jack" Robinson; a son, Victor Gentile and his wife Robin of Worcester; a daughter, Donna Lapierre and her fiancée Greg "Jimmy" Serrano of Southbridge; a foster daughter, Renne Labaire of Auburn; a stepson, Douglas Robinson and his wife Mary of Lone Tree, Colorado; two brothers, Peter P. DiTaranto and Vito "Champ" DiTaranto; a sister, Rose Dipilla all of Worcester; five grandchildren; Michael Lapierre and his wife Satomi, Francis Lapierre and his wife Melissa, Gina Lamica and her husband Matt, Anna and Steven Robinson; five great grandchildren; Domenic and Joseph Lamica, Rosemary, Hayalo and Shou Lapierre; many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends; Her first husband, Domenic Gentile passed away in 1979; four brothers, Vincent, Angelo, Joseph and Frank DiTaranto, a sister, Ida Gingerelli, a stepson, David Robinson and a great grandson Wade Lapierre also pre deceased her. Rose Marie was born in Worcester, a daughter of Michael and Elizabeth (Perrone) DiTaranto. She attended Worcester Girls Trade and lived more than 13 years in Florida before moving back to Worcester in 2001. Rose Marie worked for the City of Worcester School Department over 6 years before retiring. She was previously employed by Liberty Mutual Insurance Company and the Operations center of Worcester Institute for Savings. Over Rose Maries 86 years she was also a foster mother for between 30 and 40 children at need. Very religious, Rose Marie attended mass frequently. She was a member of St Stevens Church in Florida and Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church in Worcester. She loved music, singing, entertaining, and cookouts. In Florida Rose Marie arranged, coordinated and served as choir director for the community in which she resided. Through all this Rose Marie's most cherished interest was her family and the foster children she helped. The inspiration she got from her family and the pride she felt by helping children were what gave her the most joy. Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family Sunday, November 13th from 3 pm to 6 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. Her funeral will be held Monday, November 14th from the funeral home with a Mass at 11:00 am in Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church, 24 Mulberry St. Burial will follow in St John Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Mercy Center, 25 West Chester St Worcester 01605.
