Virginia (Vinti) Italiano, wife of the late Guido Italiano, passed away on November 3, 2011. She was the daughter of Isabella and Benjamin Vinti. She celebrated her 90th birthday last May with family and friends. Virginia graduated from Commerce High School in 1940. During the war, she worked for the Worcester Rationing Board and it was at this time that she was introduced to and fell in love with Guido to whom she was married for 60 years before his death. Virginia worked for the City of Worcester in the Lighting Department for most of her married life. She was instrumental in having the first electric lights on the streets of Worcester. Virginia and Guido had three daughters, Gina, Mary, and Lisa. After her daughters were grown, she attended New England College which she thoroughly enjoyed. She leaves her three daughters, Lisa, Mary and James, Gina and Wayne, and six grandchildren, Keith, Jessica, Carly, Michael, Jameyanne and Jan, and seven great grandchildren. Virginia also leaves her sister Grace. She was predeceased by two sisters, Frances and Priscilla. The Italiano family would like to thank all the staff at the Jewish Healthcare Center for their warm and compassionate care in our mother's last years. Mom will be missed! But Dad is waiting, Godsend. Virginia's funeral will be held Thursday from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL 370 Plantation St. with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00AM in the Church of St. Mary, 17 Waterville St., North Grafton, where Virginia was a long time member. Calling hours in the funeral home will be on Wednesday from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Interment will be in the Veteran's National Cemetery, Bourne.
