Mary G. (Canzano) Carlson, 93, formerly of 29 Atlanta St., passed away peacefully Friday, October 21st 2011 with family by her side after a period of declining health. Mary's husband of 50 years Elon N. Carlson passed away in 1989. She is survived by her cherished family, Susan M. Naraghi with whom she lived, Karen C. O'Connell and her husband Edward of Cape Coral, Florida, Ronald E. Carlson and his wife Deborah of Ft Myers Florida; her son in law Ali Naraghi, a brother John Canzano and a sister, Eleanor Warner all of whom are from Worcester; four grandsons, Brian and Michael O'Connell, David Naraghi, and Ronald Carlson II; a granddaughter, Kristina O'Connell; four great grandchildren, Keyshawn, Sean Patrick, Kylie and Eric; many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Three brothers, Vincent "Jimmy", Joseph and Emilio Canzano all pre deceased her. Mary was born in Worcester a daughter of Gennaro and Maria (Rondinone) Canzano. She graduated from Worcester Girls Trade and has lived here all her life. Mary worked for the Babyhood Industries before retiring. She previously worked for Newport Sportswear. She was a member of Christ the King Church. Mary for over 50 years notably enjoyed playing cards with the same group of friends weekly. She was an avid Red Sox fan and also enjoyed traveling to Florida to visit with family. Mary was a typical Italian mother who cherished her heritage, passed it on to her family and found her most enjoyed moments with and around them. Family was her life. Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family Monday, October 24th from 4 pm to 8 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. Her funeral will be celebrated Tuesday, October 25th from the funeral home with a Mass at 10:00 am in Christ the King Church, 1052 Pleasant St. Burial with her husband will follow in St John Cemetery.
