Mabel G. (Pruneau) Coonan, 82, of Oxford, passed away at her home on Tuesday, October 11, 2011, surrounded by loving family. Her son, Reverend Joseph Coonan, predeceased her on Friday, October 7. Her husband, Joseph C. Coonan, predeceased her in June of 1999. Mabel is survived by her loving daughter, Patricia Loiselle, with whom she lived; a brother, Albert Pruneau; many nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by three brothers and six sisters, Bertl, Adelard and Fred Pruneau, Marie Rollins, Cecelia Westberg, Ida Ryan, Rita Nichols, Dorothy Pruneau and Doris Pruneau. Mabel was born in Worcester, daughter of J. Albert and Ida (Labrie) Pruneau and has lived in Oxford, most of her life. She was a member of Saint Roch Church, where she taught C.C.D and was a member of the Rosary Sodality. She had worked as a clerk at Shoreway in Oxford and Park-N-Shop in Webster. Mabel enjoyed doing ceramic work and was an avid gardener. Special thanks to UMass Home Health and Hospice, the nurses and staff at Saint Vincent Hospital, Jan Leonard and Kathy Jones; for all of their loving care and compassion. Calling hours for Mabel and her son, Fr. Coonan, will be held on Friday, October 14 from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester. Their Funeral Mass will held on Saturday, October 15, at 10 a.m. in Saint Roch Church, 332 Main Street, Oxford (Please go directly to church). Interment will follow in Saint Roch Cemetery, Oxford.
