Rosann M. (Belsito) Phelps, 69 of Worcester, passed away peacefully October 6th 2011, after a brief illness, with her loving family by her side. Rosann was born in Worcester on November 24th 1941, the beloved daughter of Domenic Belsito and Vera (Capalbo) Belsito. Rosann was a bright student who excelled in her studies throughout her school years. She graduated from Commerce High School with first honors as a Horace Mann Scholar. She then earned her Associate's Degree, Cum Laude, from Worcester Junior College and Bachelor's Degree, Cum Laude, from Anna Maria College where she was presented with the Unico Club Achievement Award. She also earned her Master of Education Degree from Worcester State College. Rosann worked for the Worcester Public School System as a certified reading teacher and an elementary school teacher for over 25 years, most recently retiring from Nelson Place Elementary School. Rosann is survived by the family she loved so much: her mother, Vera (Capalbo) Belsito; her uncle, George Capalbo and his wife Jane of Millbury; her daughter, Lisa M. Johnson and her husband Douglas of Tampa, Florida; her daughter, Susan J. Martin and her husband Craig of Sterling; and three adored grandchildren, Lindsay Johnson, Zachary Johnson, and Craig "CJ" Martin, Junior. She also leaves many cherished extended family members and a host of dear friends. Rosann enjoyed reading, gardening, home decorating, and spending time at the beach. She had a passion for traveling, especially to Florida to visit her grandchildren Lindsay and Zachary. She often spent her days playing with her young grandson CJ or having coffee with close friends. Rosann was a devoted daughter, mother, and grandmother. She will be most remembered for her kind heart and gentle spirit. Her family meant the world to her. She found her most memorable and enjoyable times in the presence of her family. Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family Monday, October 10th 2011 from 5 pm to 8 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, October 11th at 11:00 am in the funeral home. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery, Worcester. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Barton Center for Diabetes Education, Inc., in honor of her grandson C.J., at P.O.
