Gertrude B.(Fassett) LeMay, 92, of Worcester, passed away, Thursday, September 15, 2011 in UMASS Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. Her husband of fifty years, Arthur W. LeMay predeceased her on June 4, 1992. Gertrude was born and raised in Worcester, daughter of John and Emma (Hebert) Fassett. She graduated from Commerce High School. Gertrude worked at Denholm McKay form the 1940's until it closed. She also worked at David Clark Co., when they made the first Space suits for the Apollo missions and had the opportunity to meet a few of the first astronauts. Gertrude was a woman of strong faith and longtime member of Saint Stephen's Church. She enjoyed being at family gatherings and dining out. For many years, Gertrude and her husband Arthur owned lakefront property in Spencer, MA and enjoyed many happy hours with family and friends there. She leaves a niece, Donna Russell and her husband Elliott of Gardner, MA and a nephew Ronald Ferland and his wife Carol from Hyannis, MA. She also leaves numerous other nieces, nephews along with great nieces and great nephews. She is predeceased by a sister, Lillian Butler. Family and friends may gather for calling hours in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester on Sunday, September 18th, from 3 to 6 p.m. and again on Monday morning from 9:45a.m. until 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home, before departing for church. Gertrude's Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, September 19thth in Saint Stephen's Church, 357 Grafton Street, Worcester. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Worcester.
