Joan M. Shooshan, 78, of Worcester a dedicated mother, grandmother and sister, passed away Sunday, September 4th 2011 with her beloved family by her side. Joan was born in Worcester a daughter of Athanas and Elizabeth (Breen) Grigor. She attended Commerce High school and has lived here all her life. Joan is survived by her cherished and devoted daughters, Bonnie Minardi and her husband Giancarlo of Sutton, Darlene Conte and her husband Angelo of Worcester; her two brothers, Patrick Legor of Grafton and Joseph Legor of Worcester; her four sisters, Claire Goulet of Sutton, Shirley Goulet, Joan's twin Jean Violante, and Elizabeth "Betty" Stranieri all of Worcester; five grandchildren, Fabio, Amanda, Bianca, Giuliano and Simona; many nieces nephews, extended family and friends. A sister, Eleanor Bechard pre deceased her. Joan worked over 18 years for St. Vincent Hospital before retiring in 1998. She was a member of Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church. A dedicated mother and grandmother, Joan cherished her family and friends. The greatest moments in her life were the times she could spend caring for her grandchildren and watching them grow. They were an inspiration to her in her life. Joan's funeral will be held Wednesday, September 7th from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St with a Mass at 10:30 am in Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church, 24 Mulberry St. Entombment will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton. Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family Tuesday, September 6th from 5 pm to 8 pm in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Renovation Fund of Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church, 24 Mulberry St. Joan's family with like to thank the Americare and Elders Services healthcare workers specifically Heather, The St Vincent Hospital oncology and critical care departments especially Anita for all the care, compassion and understanding they gave to our mother during this difficult time.
