Anna (Palermo) Candela, 90, of Worcester passed away peacefully Friday, September 2nd with her devoted family by her side. Anna is survived by her devoted husband of 65 years, Albert J. Candela; her two sons, Dr. James Candela, his wife Joyce of Leominster, Steven Candela and his wife Nancy ; a brother, Anthony Martello and his wife Judy all of Worcester; six grandchildren; five great grandchildren; Many nieces, nephews and friends. A brother Samuel Palermo and Three sisters, Rose Festa, Ida Brunelle and Mary DeMauro all pre deceased her. She was born in Worcester, daughter of Antonio and Angelina (Paccitta) Palermo. After her father passed at a young age she was raised by her mother and stepfather John Martello and has lived here all her life. Anna worked in the family business, Candela's Market for many years. Later she began employment as Supervising Head Cashier for the newly opened University of Massachusetts Medical School and worked there over 10 years before retiring. Anna was a member of Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church. She enjoyed the company of friends and their times playing Bingo at the Occupational Training Center. Most of all Anna's primary goal was caring for her family. Her husband, children and grandchildren were her inspiration and life's greatest joy. She cherished every minute she could spend with and around them. Calling hours, Funeral and burial in St John Cemetery will be private.
