Louise Y. (Pignataro) Tamanaco, 83, of Worcester passed away Monday, August 15th 2011, with family by her side after a seven year courageous battle with cancer. Louise was born in Worcester, on August 2, 1928, a daughter of Antonio and Pasqualina (Fusaro) Pignataro. She graduated from Commerce High School, attended Quinsigamond Community College and has lived here all her life. Louise is survived by her husband of over 64 years, Michael Tamanaco; a devoted daughter, Nancy J. Iagallo, her husband Joseph Iagallo and their son Anthony all of West Boylston who were her principle caregivers; a son, Thomas Tamanaco of Sturbridge; three grandsons, Michael, Peter and Christopher Tamanaco, three great granddaughters; many nieces, nephews and friends. A son, Raymond Tamanaco, passed away in 1997, two brothers, Salvatore and James Pignataro and a sister Marie Vilkas all pre deceased her. Louise worked as a Clerk for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts at the Registry of Motor Vehicles before retiring. She previously worked for Bay State Savings Bank, JJ Newbury and CT Sherer Companies. She was a member of Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church, its Golden Years, and Our Lady of Sorrows organizations. She was a member, past treasurer and trustee of the Worcester Lodge 168, Order Sons of Italy in America and a member and past recording secretary of the Beato Angelo Women's Club. Louise's funeral will be held Thursday August 19th from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St with a Mass at 11:00 am in Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church, 24 Mulberry St. Burial will be in St John Cemetery. Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family, Wednesday, August 17th from 5 pm to 8 pm in the funeral home.
